Students looking for a quiet Sunday worship service on campus now have a place to go. Sunday Service, hosted by Student Life, takes place twice per month in Belin Chapel at 7 p.m.

The speaker for the Feb. 21st Service, President Robert B. Sloan Jr. talked about how the Lenten season reminds Christians that they should voluntarily give up their wills for the sake of the Gospel.

Colette Cross, director of Spiritual Life and University chaplain, said the purpose of Sunday Service is to provide students with a more reflective worship.

“Sunday Service was a vision of Dr. Sloan’s and a great opportunity for our students,” Cross said. Saleim Kahleh, director of campus recreation, plans the services for students.

“It’s a great time to get refocused on the lord,” Kahleh said. Freshman Kelly Guthery, who attended the service, said she attends Sunday Service because she enjoyss going to church and having a time for her to worship.

Senior David Toney also attended the Service. “I like the Bible study the most,” Toney said. “I initially came because Dr. Sloan was speaking.”

The next service will be Feb. 28 in Belin Chapel with speaker Dr. Felisi Sorgwe director of Center for Exploring Ministry Careers. Students will receive a Community Life and Worship credit for attending.
